Charity benefits from Directors Three Peaks Yacht Race!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

In the last week of June our intrepid Managing Director, Tim Myatt, conquered the Three Peaks Yacht Race for the second time, with all the sponsorship and proceeds from a glitzy after race party, attended by 250 guests, all going to the James Myatt Trust to take disadvantaged children on challenging sailing holidays.

Tim and the other 4 members of the Torbellino Team, were thrilled to gain a very creditable 6th place this year, a full 6 place improvement on last years 12th position. The gruelling race, which takes 5 days and nights to complete, starting in North Wales, and sailing to the Highlands of Scotland, requires each team to race up Britains highest peaks, Snowdon in Wales, Scafell in England and culminating in Ben Nevis in Scotland.

Microstat believe this is a most valuable charity to support, and hopes the team will endeavour to raise more money next year and see if they can achieve a podium finish!

Microstat gives the experience of a lifetime to young people from the Midlands

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Microstat has today donated £500 to help give young people from the Midlands the chance to experience offshore sailing.  The money will go towards the costs of chartering two 60′ sail training vessels, with a crew of 10 in each, departing from Southampton in October 2009.  Those taking part will gain self confidence, independance, resiliance, respect for others and teamwork skills.

Awareness of this great cause is being raised by 5 Warwickshire friends who are taking part in the three peaks yacht race http://www.threepeaksyachtrace.co.uk/ in June 2009.  One of the crew is Tim Myatt, Sales Manager at Microstat, who is a keen sailor and long distance runner.

You can follow the teams progress on their own website http://www.teamtorbellino.com/ and if you would like to help with this great cause then please go to http://www.justgiving.com/torbellino and donate.

Steve Cave, Microstat’s Managing Director, says ‘Sailing is not an activity you would typically associate with the Midlands, and so I am very pleased to help provide such an opportunity to some worthy individuals’
