Microstat announce Canon Accreditation

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Microstat have become an accredited Canon partner which allows Microstat to resell the complete  Canon suite of  Document Management Software. Sales Director, Tim Myatt comments ” This is another important step on our road to being a complete Document Management service provider. Alot of our clients were asking whether we could supply, implement and support them in taking the next step into more cost effective ways of handling their Invoices or any other documents that need processing within an organization, and we believe Canon offer the best range of solutions. Canon have recently added the much acclaimed ” Therefore ” software products to their portfolio, allowing users of all types and sizes to benefit from low cost but highly sophisticated document management and workflow. Managing Director, Steve Cave was also pleased with the tie-up, ” We have been a client of Canons for 15 years, as users of their software and scanners in-house, so we really feel we know the Company, products and personnel very well! Their after sales support and cutting edge product development has always been first class, so I am sure this association will prove a great benefit to alot of our clients, who want us to be alot more than just their scanning partner.”

If you wish to hear more about how this software can transform your document handling and processes, give Tim a call on 0121 486 2020 or e-mail  tim.myatt@microstat.co.uk

A Three Stage Process

  1. Introduction The Data Protection Act 1998 places responsibility on all companies to ensure that any data containing personal information is disposed of in a secure manner. As the Data Controller, we have satisfied ourselves that our client’s documents are disposed of correctly, whilst complying with this legislation.
  2. Storage prior to destruction Documents are stored in lockable containers, and emptied on-site by specialist vehicles. A numbered Waste Transfer Note showing details of the date and time, together with confirmation of the weight received, is issued at the time of collection.
  3. Destruction Each consignment is transferred to a high security operation where shredding takes place under strict supervision. The end product is baled and delivered to tissue mills where the recycling process is carried out.

50 Tonnes of Paper Waste

We believe recycling is a better environmental option than using landfill. UK paper mills recycle around 0.5 million tonnes per year of office paper waste, 50 tonnes of which are generated by Microstat. Most of this is manufactured into tissue products for use in the home and office.

Certificates of destruction can be supplied if required.

In addition to the above, we re-use lever arch files, manilla folders, storage boxes paper clips, plastic wallets and elastic bands. These are either returned to the customer for re-use, or sent to local schools where they can be made good use of. Please give us a call should any of these be of use to you, a nominal delivery fee may apply.

We also ensure our company vehicles are operated in the most efficient manner, so no wasted journeys take place, and collections/deliveries are consolidated where possible. In house, we ensure all bottles, cans, plastic containers, card, paper and toner cartridges are recycled.

Microstat plants over 100 trees per annum through our 2 environmental charities, (see charities reference) plus our own direct company planting scheme.

By putting in place these carbon offset measures, we aim to be carbon neutral by 2009.

Pictured with David Bellamy is a proud Managing Director, Stephen Cave, accepting his award. A lifelong fan of the environmentalist, Stephen was delighted to have his Company’s efforts and financial contribution to the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust rewarded by this presentation. Microstat have been supporting the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust for many years as we feel we live in a natural world which is constantly under threat, where people and the needs of modern life always seem to take precedence over wildlife.

Recycling Responsibilities

Business plays its part in this destructive act, and we feel it is the duty of every business to both minimize the damaging impact they cause, as well as helping wildlife to fight back by putting money and effort into buying reserves and securing their future. Microstat has always taken its recycling responsiblities seriously and all shredded documents go for re-pulping. This amounts to between a quarter and a third of a million pieces of paper every single week, which adds up to a staggering 180 tonnes a year – which equates to around 112 mature trees.
